Candidate for Long Hill Township Committee
David Hands
“Creating a better future for Long Hill”
Meet David
ABOUT DAVID
David has lived in Long Hill for over 30 years, and the community has benefited substantially from his civic involvement. A 12-year member of the Planning Board, he has served as both Chair and Vice Chair. He also led the Master Plan Committee, earning a reputation as a thoughtful and disciplined leader.
David’s commitment to public service was inspired by his father, who was a longtime volunteer in their hometown of Hemel Hempstead in England. David and his wife left the UK for the US in 1992, when Morgan Stanley relocated him from its London office.
He continues to achieve distinction in the Financial Services Industry, focusing on software development and ISO Global Industry Standards. David’s professional expertise—combined with his extensive knowledge of local land use, zoning, development, and infrastructure—ideally positions him to deliver results for Long Hill.
David and Anne-Marie raised their three sons in Stirling. All became Eagle Scouts. He was active with Troop 56 and he coached Travel Soccer. David is deeply attached to this community because of the memories and friendships his family has made here.
WHY HE’S RUNNING
David wants Long Hill to push ahead with ideas proposed in the Master Plan, especially:
- Developing a “Trail by Rail” to connect Millington, Stirling, and Gillette
- Creating village community spaces
- Enlivening Valley Road business district
- Finishing Central Park
- Cleaning the Passaic River and establishing walking paths
Among his other concerns, David would like the township to provide lifetime living for all age groups. He hopes that he and Anne-Marie can retire here. In the meantime, he’ll do everything he can to create a better future for Long Hill.
